About Me

Leading a healthy lifestyle is a big part of who I am.

I wore my first ballet tutu at age three and continued in modern dance into my 50s. Coming from a theatrical family, becoming a theater-education major and a dance minor in college was an easy decision. Then, years of dancing and skiing led to a knee injury, so I turned to Pilates, gaining my certification, so I could share this wonderful fitness modality with others.  When not photographing nature or writing children’s books, I love hiking, gardening, playing piano and trying new healthy recipes.

I’d love for you to read my Author Page at BookBaby!

A Master’s degree in English and   K-12 certification allowed me to share my love of teaching with all ages including future teachers at Mott College in Flint, Michigan.

FUN FACT: My husband and I began reading aloud to each other during COVID-19, and we’ve continued to this day.

I'm excited to bring my years of experience to your classroom, library or at-home learning space.

What My Customers Say

Children, parents and community organizations have enjoyed my books and storytelling sessions.

Gardening is a family affair, so we loved reading V is for Vegetable to our daughter when she was 2-3. Now, at 5 years old, she reads it to us and still loves it!

Sean Crawford

Heather is amazing; the best storyteller we’ve ever had for Children’s Day at the Farm. Kids of all ages wanted to participate, and even adults were engaged.”

Lauralyn Handyside (Edible Flint Farm, Michigan)

V is for Vegetable is beloved by my grandson and his mother, who is a budding student of cooking. I see you as their kitchen fairy godmother.
